Bathroom renovations in Málaga

The bathroom is the most technical room in the house: four square metres where water, electricity and drainage all meet. We get it right on the inside so it can be enjoyed on the outside.

A badly built bathroom doesn’t show on day one: it shows a year later, when the stain appears on the ceiling of the neighbour below or the grout starts to crack. That’s why in a bathroom what matters happens before the first tile goes on.

At RIM we’ve been renovating bathrooms in Málaga for more than fifteen years, and we’ve learned that almost every problem comes from three places: the waterproofing, the ventilation and plumbing that was left half-done. We treat all three as what they are: the reason your bathroom will last for decades.

What your bathroom renovation includes

  • New plumbing for supply and drainage, with accessible stopcocks.
  • Waterproofing of the wet area before tiling. No shortcuts.
  • Bath-to-shower conversion with a flush tray, if that’s what you’re after.
  • Large-format wall and floor tiling, with fewer joints and easier to clean.
  • Sanitaryware, screen, bespoke unit and taps chosen with you.
  • Lighting and ventilation designed so the room never feels stuffy.

Tell us what your bathroom is like and we’ll tell you what can be done. Fixed price, no surprises.

Materials that age well

You don’t need the most expensive marble to have a beautiful bathroom; you need to get the combination right. We work with large-format porcelain (it mimics marble or microcement without their problems), non-slip resin trays, thermostatic taps and wall-hung units that leave the floor visible and make the space feel bigger.

If you’re after the high end, we do it: natural marble, stone worktops, freestanding basins. And if what you want is a simple, well-resolved bathroom to let a flat in the Historic Centre, that too. We show you price ranges for each option before you decide anything; in the guide on how much a bathroom renovation costs you’ll find it broken down.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to renovate a bathroom?

A full bathroom usually takes between 10 and 15 working days. It isn’t just tiling: screeds and mortars need to dry, and you can’t rush that without it showing later. We give you a schedule and we stick to it.

Can I use another bathroom while the work is going on?

If there’s a second WC at home, life carries on much as usual. If you only have one, we talk it through: we organise the work to keep the toilet usable for as many days as possible and warn you in advance about the days without water.

Do you swap the bath for a shower tray?

It’s the renovation we’re asked for most in Málaga. We remove the bath, sort the waterproofing thoroughly (no improvising here) and fit a flush tray with a linear channel or gully. You gain space, safety and easier cleaning.

And if damp or old pipes turn up when the tiles come off?

In bathrooms in older buildings it happens. That’s why we open up and check the state of the waste pipes and connections before closing the quote. If something needs replacing, you’ll see it and you’ll decide; we never hide it away inside the wall.

What guarantee does it carry?

The one set by building law plus our own, in writing. The waterproofing and the plumbing — what really matters in a bathroom — are covered and we stand behind them.
